David S. Wright, 1824 – 1900
By Douglas H. Shepard, 2012
David S. Wright was born in England in 1824 and came to the United States in 1845, when he was 21. He worked at the Johnson House (1 Park Place), then in the Risley seed gardens and later in the Parker seed gardens. In 1861 he began his own seed business in Cordova and soon after moved to a home on Brigham Road, Dunkirk. Around 1865 he sold his seed business to his sons and retired. It was in 1867 that Wright sold his home lot on Matteson Street. He is listed twice on the 1867 map of Pomfret, just west of Henry Simpson.
